Job Description
Summary/objective
The Fireproofing Foreman is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fireproofing operations on-site, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to make field decisions that impact both the budget and schedule. The Foreman directly supervises the fireproofing crew, including the Sprayer (if applicable), Mixer, and Laborers, and may also perform Sprayer duties when necessary.
In addition to managing daily operations, the Foreman serves as the primary point of contact for site coordination.

**Crew Supervision & Coordination: **
• Oversee daily operations of the fireproofing crew, including Sprayers, Mixers, and Laborers, ensuring all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Delegate tasks effectively and monitor crew performance to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
• Serve as the lead Sprayer when necessary, ensuring continuity in material application and workflow.
• Conduct on-site training for new team members and ensure all crew members follow safety protocols and company procedures.
Project Management:
• Attend daily GC planning meetings and weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate schedules, address project concerns, and align with overall construction timelines.
• Make informed field decisions that directly impact the project’s budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
• Monitor project progress and adjust work schedules as needed to meet deadlines and client expectations.
Material Application:
• Apply fireproofing materials using spray equipment, trowels, or brushes to achieve uniform coverage and required thickness.
• Conduct daily yield and density measurements to ensure accurate material application and compliance with project specifications.
• Verify material thickness using depth gauges and make necessary adjustments for compliance.
**Site Preparation & Maintenance: **
• Prepare surfaces for fireproofing applications by cleaning, masking, and protecting non-targeted areas.
• Oversee the setup of scaffolding, ladders, hoses, and protective barriers to create a safe and efficient work environment.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure the proper disposal of overspray, trash, and debris.
**Equipment Operation & Maintenance: **
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all equipment, including mixers, pumps, spray nozzles, and injectors.
• Perform routine inspections and schedule preventive maintenance to avoid equipment malfunctions.
• Safely manage the unloading and storage of materials using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Follow proper storage protocols to extend the lifespan of tools and materials.
**Documentation & Reporting: **
• Maintain accurate records of material usage, yield, and density measurements.
• Complete daily reports and submit documentation to supervisors as required.
Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and safety goggles.
• Participate in and lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks to remain current on safety protocols.
Team Collaboration:
• Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project execution, demonstrating a strong ability to follow instructions.
• Assist colleagues with additional construction-related tasks as needed, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Actively seek guidance and feedback from senior team members to continuously develop and enhance skills.
Competencies

• Proficiency in basic math for accurate measuring, mixing materials, and reading blueprints and technical documents.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of fireproofing materials and application techniques.
• Interpret and analyze shop drawings to accurately execute fireproofing applications according to project requirements.
• Comfortable working at heights and in diverse weather conditions.
• Keen attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
• Maintain a good driving history and valid Driver’s License.
Supervisory responsibilities
• Direct supervision of assigned crew.
• Responsible for on-site training, task delegation, and crew performance management.
Physical demands
• Physical stamina and strength to perform demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, bending,
climbing, standing for long periods of time and withstand loud noise for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
• Exposure to working outdoors in varying environments, including high heat, cold temperatures, and other weather-related conditions.
Travel required
• Up to 90%.
Preferred education and experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in construction or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with fireproofing materials and application techniques is a plus.
• OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license/ID and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (citizenship or valid work visa required).
• U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Confidential/Secret/Top Secret/SCI security clearance (if applicable).
