Cambridge International Systems is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Electronic Security System Engineer. This individual will be responsible to design, document, configure, and program complex Electronic Security Systems consisting of Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV) equipment and components, including the necessary infrastructure to support the communication and power connectivity required to operate these systems, both CONUS and OCONUS. Potential applicants must be able to obtain at least a Secret Clearance. The position can be remote with up to 50% travel.
DUTIES:
- Participate in site surveys and gathering of data to obtain site-specific information necessary for design efforts
- Design of electronic security system and subsystem solutions from initial concept to final product based on customer work requirements
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and specifications and translate criteria into designs
- Generate conceptual designs and material lists for proposal efforts
- Participate in periodic design reviews as dictated by customer / contract requirements
- Leverage manufacturer’s literature and technical support during solution development
- Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to deliver a successful design product
- Utilize controlled documentation and government standards, application guides, and industry best practices to support the design and installation process.
- Stay informed of new technologies as they apply to electronic security applications
- Assume leadership role to manage and direct subcontractors (if necessary) installation tasking to ensure the plans and specifications are being adhered/followed.
- Provide the scope definition, specification, and budgetary write-ups for proposal capture personnel for electrical engineering projects.
- Performs physical activities in unusual locations including climbing in and out of equipment and working outdoors
Required Skills
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security manufacturers such as Lenel, AMAG, Software House, FLIR, Hirsch, MDI, Bosch, Pelco, Genetec, HID, Axis, and Geutebruck. Candidate should be able to understand how these systems operate and be familiar with their technical limitations
- Working knowledge and/or certification with operating systems commonly used for ACS, IDS, and CCTV systems
- Programming and scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, etc), experience with systems integration tools and protocols (APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON), database design and query development
- Configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic security system components and supporting hardware; examples include the following:
- Intrusion detection platform software
- Security appliances/processors and field sensors (e.g. motion/vibration, contact, buried line, fiber optic, radar, microwave, thermal, etc.)
- Access control: workstations with credentialing software, door controllers, card readers CCTV: cameras, video management servers, network video recorder Battery backup controllers
- Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD is a plus
- Ability to manage vendors both face-to-face and utilizing remote monitoring techniques, to address issues and maintain project schedules
- Experience working in client-facing roles with USG agencies, such as USACE, NAVFAC, and GSA.
- Proven ability to direct staff and work with a diverse team, experience working with host country nationals strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous workloads effectively, including adapting to changes, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work
Required Experience
- Hands on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems
- System administration experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, and implementing new workstations and system extensions
- A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is preferred with five (5) to seven (7) years in security systems engineering (will consider other combinations of experience and training in lieu of a degree)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Security Vetting: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain at least a Secret Clearance.
- Language Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills
- US Passport and ability to physically travel and do physical labor required for the job.
