HOW DOES THIS ROLE IMPACT FIRST COMMAND?
The Senior Agile Practice Lead will mature the organization’s transformation and ensure the company progresses in value delivery. In this role, the lead will be key in advancing Lean Agile at First Command. As part of the Transformation Office, the Senior Agile Practice Lead will have the opportunity to lead the implementation of lean-agile practices based on First Command’s transformation vision and Operations & Technology strategies.
The ideal candidate is a change agent with a collaborative working style that fuels transformation within the organization. This individual will be required to think holistically as they collaborate with multiple groups in First Command.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Grows the Lean-Agile Community of Practice to enforce lean-agile principles throughout First Command;
- Influence the organization with expert knowledge of agile practices;
- Develop the implementation plan and managing the transformation backlog;
- Lead the execution of LACP and take ownership of the LACP transformation backlog;
- Lead communication with executive leadership: the vision, progress, and planned improvements of the transformation;
- Coaches and develops employees, ensuring performance management activities are undertaken and providing regular input into employee assessments and development plans;
- Mentors Product Management and Epic Owners on Agile Product Management & Lean Portfolio Management practices;
- Deliver agile training at the portfolio, program, and team level;
- Create visibility of Enterprise Architecture, Lean UX, Development, Data and System team strategies to ensure built-in quality of agile products;
- Define a baseline and measurement strategy to assess our transformation maturity, including team and program level competencies to achieve business agility;
- Collaborate with the Transformation Office to contribute to measuring culture & governance competencies;
- Spread Lean-Agile principles and practices throughout the organization and foster an innovative environment for talent to thrive;
WHAT SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED?
Education
- BA/BS required; MBA or MS preferred.
- SAFe Program Consultant certification required
- Any Agile trainer or Agile coach certification is a plus
- Additional Agile or Scrum certification a plus
Required Qualifications
- 8-10 years of applied Agile experience working in a team or leadership role
- 3-5 years of working in a Scaled Agile Framework Environment
- 1-3 years of teaching/training agile courses and agile roles
- Expert knowledge of Agile principles and practices, with extensive experience working in an Agile organization
- Advanced skills in mentoring, coaching, listening, providing feedback and performance management
- Strong experience in leading transformations
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices
- Strong understanding and ability to facilitate discussions on business capabilities, value stream mapping and organizing around value
- Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to establish business strategy, and engineer processes accordingly
- Applied experience defining and communicating success metrics & driving data-informed decision making
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial services industry experience or other highly regulated industry experience a plus
