  • Responsibilities

    Lorain County is governed by a board of three County Commissioners serving as the general administrative body for Lorain County. All Lorain County Commissioners are elected to office. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners is the budget and appropriating authority for Lorain County government and employs approximately 250 employees. Every agency (with the exception of the Motor Vehicle Gas Tax (MVGT), court, and other elected officeholder relies on the Lorain County Board of Commissioners for their budgets.

    Under general direction of Fiscal Director and Fiscal Administrators, coordinates the monitoring daily fiscal operations of programs; provides first line supervision to Fiscal Specialists; prepares and reviews budgets, reviews proposals, conducts on-site financial audits of department/agency contracts; prepares purchase orders and other purchasing documents, maintains records of inventory and purchase orders for materials, equipment, supplies, and services, provides information to vendors.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration with one (1) year of accounting, business or public administration experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • Knowledge of budgeting; accounting; grant programs administration, rules and regulations; government grant programs; federal, state and local laws regulating purchasing by county agency agencies and departments; county purchasing; bookkeeping; stock inventory.
    • Skill in computer operation, use of modern office equipment; typing.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Ability to resolve complaints from the public; handle sensitive inquiries from and contracts with officials and general public.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, calculate factions, decimals and percentages.
