Fiscal Support Specialist
Position Overview:
Under supervision, this position provides financial and administrative support for the Fiscal Operations team. Primary duties are related to Payroll and the issuance of customer support services. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Processes bi-weekly payroll including: compilation of employee or customer time reporting and payroll data from timesheets.
• Reviews employee or customer timesheets for accuracy and completeness and enters payroll data into the payroll system.
• Reviews employee or customer payroll reports and other information to ensure accuracy and completeness and to resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Records changes to employee or customer information, including pay rate changes, transfers, and resignations.
• Provides employee or customer information to managers and employees on minor payroll matters and tax issues.
• Coordinates Payroll and Work Experience matters with Human Resources.
• Maintains and updates employer contracts database.
• Reviews contracts for compliance with applicable policies.
• Prepares reports to track customer support services costs including: Individual Training Accounts (ITAs), training and tuition, transportation and other support costs as authorized by Workforce Solutions.
• Maintains records for Work Experience and On-the-Job-Training (OJT) Agreements.
• Completes monthly and ad-hoc reports.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred, and 1 years work related experience, preferably in a workforce development environment, or
• Associate Degree from an accredited college and 3 years work related experience, preferably in a workforce development environment, or
• High School Diploma or equivalent required and 5 years work related experience, preferably in a workforce development environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using Office software including spreadsheet software and related database programs.
• Basic accounting knowledge is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of office machinery and automation, including any applicable software packages.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, Board staff, and the general public.
• May be required to utilize a personal automobile in traveling from site to site while performing duties and responsibilities, requiring a current valid driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance.
• Must be organized and detail oriented.
