Position Purpose
This role assists the Manager in directing and supervising all activity, member service, and health promotion program areas for both the club and work-site.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists, develops, implements, and supervises personnel in all aspects relating to wellness and health promotion activities. Provides guidance, training, and motivation to wellness staff and others if applicable. Helps to monitor and evaluate work performance of personnel in this area including personal trainers, group fitness instructors, massage therapists, etc. Creates and maintains positive work environment within the club.
Assists manager in soliciting prospective members. Provides information to prospective members regarding health club programs, new member orientation procedures, and general health and wellness information. Assists with sales activities as required, depending on location.
Assists in the management of the members’ orientation process, systems, records, and exercise adherence programs (from Health History and Medical Clearances to Fitness Assessments and Exercise Prescription).
Develops and provides beneficial health, fitness, activity, and club operational information to members through the use of bulletin boards, newsletters, and fliers.
Develops and implements member relation programs (letters of appreciation, honor roll, birthday notices, member parties, etc.)
Assists in maintaining cleanliness, operation safety of club facilities and equipment.
Assists with front desk and administration duties as needed.
Communicates with service staff, club manager, and corporate management in order to ensure a quality level of service to the members.
Performs various other duties and assignments as necessary or required.
Required Qualifications
BS in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Or Health Promotion
Previous experience in corporate wellness and/or a fitness center setting
CPT and/or Group Fitness certification from a CHU approved and nationally recognized program
An outgoing personality and a priority of high-level member service
Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
A desire to work in a fitness center setting, along with a sincere interest in fitness and health, and a desire to maintain or improve one’s own level of fitness
Be at least 21 years of age
