    The Glen, a fully functional Life Plan Community is seeking a Fitness Coordinator for our new Fitness Center. The Fitness Coordinator will oversee the daily operations and management of the Fitness Center and is responsible for the development, planning, coordination, direction and evaluation of the wellness program to ensure client satisfaction.

    ASSIGNED SHIFT: Shift is normally an 8-hour shift 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday) but could be more or less and hours could be changed depending on the needs of the Community. (Assignment may vary)

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for supporting the Resident Engagement Coordinator in developing and implementing life engagement programs, specifically, but not limited to, those related to fitness. All programs will be geared towards meeting a variety of physical and cognitive needs. The Fitness Center Coordinator will also promote a high level of customer service. Critical to this position is a commitment to and knowledge of wellness and access to resources in order to build an effective wellness program.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Experience in evaluating adult fitness programs

    Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings and weekends

    Computer skills appropriate to job requirements

    Certifications desired: Group exercise or personal training for adults

    CPR/Basic First Aid

    Compassionate spirit, flexibility, and a lively enthusiasm for working with the senior population

    Professional appearance and friendly demeanor with positive attitude

    Good communication, organizational and time management skills

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Responsible for the promotion, coordination and implementation of Fitness Center’s exercise program.

    Coordinate fitness related events. Promote all fitness programming and recruit residents for participation.

    Responsible for building relationships with the residents, encouraging physical activities.

    Prepare the fitness center and swimming pool area for use. Maintain cleanliness of all equipment and exercise areas and monitor preventative maintenance.

    Plan fitness classes for a variety of skill levels.

    Responsible for training residents on HUR strength training equipment, assess resident’s abilities, develop personalized program, familiarize residents with equipment software. Track participation of HUR equipment using the tracking software. Supervise proper use of equipment.

    Develop monthly calendar of daily classes for varying levels of skill sets for this position.

    Responsible for scheduling contract instructors to lead classes, collect CPR certification, W9 documents, submit timesheets to appropriate department for timely remittance.

    Launder and fold towels for Fitness Center.

    Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Contract instructors

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Raising cardio-vascular rate when there is a need to demonstrate the cardiovascular equipment and exercises. Capable of operating all exercise equipment and cardiovascular equipment.

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull up to 90 pounds

    Finger and hand dexterity to operate small equipment and complete job tasks

    Visual and hearing acuity

    Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
