POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Concord Community Schools Fitness & Performance Center Teacher will provide programming, leadership, management, and execution for strength, conditioning, fitness, agility, plyometrics, linear speed, and nutrition for Concord students participating in classes, before and after school programs, and summer programs in the Concord High School Wellness Center Facility. The Fitness & Performance Center Teacher will work collaboratively with doctors, trainers, coaches, and parents to develop rehabilitation plans for injured student athletes. The Fitness & Performance Center Teacher will schedule, supervise, manage, and maintain the facility and all of the equipment within it.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for leadership and the effective execution of all activities and programs offered in the Wellness Center Facility.
Schedule, supervise, manage, and maintain the Wellness Center Facility.
Communicate with equipment vendors in scheduling and/or assisting with the maintenance and repair of equipment.
Keep an up-to-date inventory of all strength, conditioning, and technology equipment within the Wellness Center Facility.
Collaborate with the High School Athletic Director and Principal in recommending the purchase of equipment and supplies for the Wellness Center Facility.
Collaborate with doctors, trainers, and coaches in the rehabilitation of injured athletes.
Organization and implementation of a year round strength and conditioning program for all student athletes.
Responsible for designing and implementing specific strength and conditioning plans for both single and multi-sport student athletes. Plans will be communicated collaboratively with all head coaches involved.
Collaborate and communicate with the Junior High Athletic Director to create and implement a junior high strength and conditioning orientation program for all junior high student athletes.
Collaboration and communication with the High School and Junior High Athletic Directors to maintain a consistent strength and conditioning philosophy and culture for all student athletes.
Provide professional growth opportunities and instruction for all Concord Community Schools coaches.
Be a resource for all district Wellness teachers to assist with planning of fitness activities within their classes.
Establish high expectations and a winning culture that students using the Wellness Center Facility will be expected to meet.
Complete adherence to IHSAA and Concord Community Schools rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Execute a digital record keeping system for student athlete testing and evaluation data.
Test and reward strength and performance improvement and maintain up to date strength and performance clubs and display boards.
Improve female participation and enrollment in strength and conditioning classes and programs.
Maintain certification(s), and attend clinics/professional growth opportunities.
Organize and facilitate a lift-a-thon.
Speak at parent meetings when requested.
Attend High School athletic contests to assist with and assess the performance of student athletes.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, High School Principal, and High School Athletic Director for Concord Community Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Strength and Conditioning and/or Exercise Science.
First Aid and CPR certified.
Previous experience teaching, directing, and managing large groups of athletes, preferably in a large facility.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multitask.
Evidence of ability to interact positively with students, colleagues, and the public.
