    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated Fleet Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our company’s fleet of trucks. This role includes driver management, vehicle maintenance, route planning, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring safe and cost-effective transportation operations. Key duties include hiring and managing drivers, scheduling regular vehicle maintenance, monitoring vehicle performance, and enforcing adherence to industry standards and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of fleet operations.

    Responsibilities:

    Maintenance and Repairs – Planning for fleet replacements based on vehicle age and usage and managing vehicle disposal and trade-in process.

    Driver Management – Ensuring driver compliance with hours of service regulations, monitoring driver behavior, and addressing driver concerns and providing coaching.

    Route Planning and Optimization – Creating efficient delivery routes considering traffic patterns and load requirements while utilizing route optimization software to maximize delivery efficiency.

    Compliance and Safety – Adhering to all state and federal transportation regulations regarding vehicle inspections, licensing, and driver qualifications. Implementing safety programs to minimize accidents and promote driver well-being.

    Fleet Tracking – Monitoring vehicle location and performance.

    Cost Management – Budgeting for vehicle maintenance, fuel, and other operational expenses.

    Communication – Maintaining open communication with drivers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders

    Requirements:

    Leadership - Motivating and guiding drivers, fostering a safety-focused culture.

    Industry Knowledge – Strong understanding of transportation operations, including freight types, routing, pricing models, and regulatory compliance is preferred but not required.

    Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively present complex information and build rapport with drivers and customers.

    Relationship Building – Ability to develop strong customer and driver relationships and build trust with key decision-makers.

    Negotiation Skills – Confidence in negotiating pricing and contract terms to achieve mutually beneficial agreements

    TMS Knowledge – Experience using Mcleod is preferred but not required

    Interpersonal skills – Ability to build and maintain relationships

    Decision Making – Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced work environment
