    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Performs duties as the senior manager over the programmatic elements within the Occupational Safety (OS) organization reporting to the Occupational Safety & Health (OS&H) Manager; responsible for the overall development of the OS Program. Duties include but are not limited to oversight of the OS Program Engineers supporting all assigned functions and elements of the OS Program: responsibilities are to direct and support development and evaluation of the OS Program. Responsible for ensuring that the approach to the mission is aligned with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements and is reflected in all applicable FBP procedures. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support the OS&H Manager in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

     

    • Plans, schedules and integrates OS program elements to ensure utilization of employees and compliance with all contractual requirements, quality standards and budgetary guidelines

    • Ensures staffing levels of managed personnel are maintained in a manner which allows the effective execution of the assigned scope of work at all times

    • Ensures OS programmatic support needs are adequate for effective support of the Project mission

    • Participates in various site teams, committees designated to implement ISMS and integrated work methods designed to enhance performance

    • Maintains close working relationship with Directors and senior management while ensuring that OS services are being properly executed and needs of the OS Program are met

    • Interfaces with groups inside and outside the ESH&Q organization, senior management, auditors and client representatives

    • Develop organizational budgets, various plans, policies or procedures as needed.

    • Responsible for personnel performance actions and performance appraisals

    • Directs all activities associated with the development of policies, procedures and systems supporting the OS Program elements

    • Ensures that direct reports have appropriate training to support the field activities

    • Must be capable of understanding and performing methods and processes related to OS programmatic development

    • Responsible for short term and long term planning of activities related to the OS Program

    • Generates reports

    • Proficient in a wide variety of OS support tasks

    • Performs a variety of tasks complex to significantly difficult in nature

    • Other job related duties as assigned

    • Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner. Has responsibility for the safety of those being managed and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits

    • Actively participates in Safety Work Groups

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities). Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

     

    Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.).

     

    Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.)

     

    May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.

    Expert understanding of federal and state policies and regulations, project policies and requirements

    Strong interpersonal and communications skills and attention to detail

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    BS degree in Occupational Safety or a closely related field and 12 years of related experience and supervisory/managerial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Typical experience ranges from 12 - 16 years.
