    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY
    Feeding San Diego operates an innovative and forward-thinking decentralized food rescue program that has been providing free nutritious meals for people facing hunger throughout San Diego County for 15 years. Food donors such as local grocery stores, retailers, wholesale distributors, farmers, and restaurants help make this possible. Our team is seeking an enthusiastic individual to be one of our Food Rescue Coordinators who will assist in the day-to-day management of these important contributors. The coordinator will foster new and existing donor relationships by providing exceptional customer service in the following: timely communication, donor onboarding, training in proper food rescue practices, pickup coordination, data collection, and reporting. Our Food Rescue Coordinators are friendly, highly organized, effective communicators, proactive problem solvers; enjoy building good relationships with customers; and more importantly, have a passion for helping others.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    The following duties and responsibilities are those considered to be essential but do not represent all the job functions that may be required to be performed by this position. Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Occasional evening or weekend work is required as a condition of employment.

    •  Provides professional, responsive and appreciative customer service to all food donors, volunteers, food recipients, and coworkers
    •  Conducts weekly face-to-face visits and meetings with current and prospective donors (8-10 visits a week, on average) to maintain a good relationship, resolve any issues, recommend additional culturally appropriate and nutritious product assortments, respectfully educate and ensure food rescue best practices are followed
    •  Maintains accurate and up-to-date data in multiple platforms, such as a CRM (Customer Relationship Management); regularly generates and analyzes reports intended for internal and external stakeholders
    •  Collaborates with other departments to uphold food safety standards and facilitate donation pickups/deliveries
    •  Assists with regular food rescue trainings as well as distribution of equipment and collateral
    •  All other duties as assigned

    INTERACTION
    The position requires frequent interaction with FSD staff, food donors, agency partners, and volunteers of our community; occasional interaction with city and county officials

    EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

    •  Associate’s degree (minimum) or Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
    •  Minimum of 2 years of professional experience with competing priorities, deadlines and multi-tasking; strong customer-service skills, and a passion for serving others; experience in the food service industry, outside sales, or sales account management is a plus.

    •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
    •  Passion for and commitment to Feeding San Diego’s mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity
    •  Conversant in Spanish
    •  Must live in San Diego County

    Preferred:

    •  Knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices
    •  Experience working customer relationship management platforms, preferably Salesforce and/or Smartsheet (project management)
    •  Food handler’s safety certificate (can obtain once hired)
    •  Fluent in Spanish
    •  Lives in (or in close proximity) to East County or South County San Diego

    • LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
    • Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.
    • PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
    •  Work in an office adjacent to a warehouse setting with approximately 40% travel to other locations in San Diego County
    •  Sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk, bend at the waist and knees, kneel and use hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance, and climbing stairs frequently.
    •  May lift, carry, and balance objects weighing up to 50 pounds
    •  Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking

    PAY & HOURS

    $23 - $24.50 per hour

    Monday - Friday, Hybrid
