Job Overview:
The Foreman Pipefitter (Hydronics) is responsible for leading and supervising the installation, maintenance, and repair of hydronic piping systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. This role involves overseeing a team of pipefitters, ensuring project timelines are met, maintaining safety and quality standards, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision:
- Direct and manage a team of pipefitters and apprentices on-site.
- Delegate tasks and ensure proper execution of hydronic system installations.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, safety protocols, and project requirements.
- Hydronic Systems Installation and Maintenance:
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Install, maintain, and repair hydronic heating and cooling systems, including boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, and radiators.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal functionality.
- Project Management:
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, ensuring work is completed on time and within scope.
- Coordinate with other trades, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless integration of hydronic systems with other building systems.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of work progress, materials used, and system testing results.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks with the team.
- Address and resolve any safety concerns promptly.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and resolve any issues or defects in hydronic systems.
- Train team members on best practices and advanced techniques in hydronic installations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in pipefitting with a focus on hydronic systems, including at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman role.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in plumbing, pipefitting, or HVAC preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Journeyman or Master Pipefitter License.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hydronic heating and cooling systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, and materials used in pipefitting and hydronic systems.
Work Environment:
- Physical role involving lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces or elevated positions.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions on construction sites.
- May involve extended hours and weekend work to meet project deadlines.
