  • Responsibilities

    Lorain County is governed by a board of three County Commissioners serving as the general administrative body for Lorain County. All Lorain County Commissioners are elected to office. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners is the budget and appropriating authority for Lorain County government and employs approximately 250 employees. Every agency (with the exception of the Motor Vehicle Gas Tax (MVGT), court, and other elected officeholder relies on the Lorain County Board of Commissioners for their budgets.

    Under direction, performs forensic, chemical and/or biological sample analysis utilizing varying lab equipment such as gas chromatography mass spectrometry, immunoassay, etc. Adheres to the policies and procedures of the county and laboratory to include documentation of evidence/sampling handling utilizing chain-of-custody. Demonstrates professional integrity and attends hearings as requested to testify to laboratory findings. Demonstrates competency in performing dilutions and extractions

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in forensic or clinical laboratory science, biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
    • Two (2) years of experience performing testing/analysis of samples in a laboratory setting preferred.
    • Knowledge of case work procedures; evidence handling; chain of custody; court system; etc.
    • Knowledge of application of procedures to laboratory testing.
    • Ability to analyze data accurately and make scientific conclusions; perform dilutions and prepare solutions of varying concentrations.
    • Ability to maintain focus and pay attention to detail; demonstrate professionalism.
    • Ability to prepare accurate documentation; compile and prepare reports.
