    Position Summary:

    Bay Area PLS is a mobile laboratory company providing professional blood draws, vaccinations and testing to individuals in the comfort of their own homes, as well as entities such as medical research companies, home health agencies, government agencies, and many more. We take pride in collecting samples as efficiently and painlessly as possible, while complying with all safety rules and regulations and preserving the integrity of all samples for delivery to the testing laboratory.

    Key Details:

    • Work Hours: Up to 24 hours per week

    • Hours vary

    • Work Structure: Hybrid model; primarily home-based with deployment to various locations in the Greater Bay Area upon request.

    • Volume of Work: You may handle 0 to 10 draws per shift, depending on demand.

    • Forensic Collaboration: Participate in forensic blood draws for the police department as required, contributing to law enforcement efforts and community safety.

    • A rest break * 10 min * will be scheduled during the shift. Please be aware that this shift structure and break policy are subject to changes in accordance with future modifications to California labor laws to ensure compliance and protect employee rights.

    • Requirements: Must pass a comprehensive drug screening and background check to ensure eligibility for sensitive forensic tasks.

    • Must have reliable transportation to reach assigned locations promptly.

    • Preferred candidates will have an active phlebotomy certification and experience in mobile or forensic phlebotomy.

    • Ability to teach new students in the field, so they can gain clinical experience. You will be compensated extra when teaching someone.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform blood and other specimen collections efficiently across diverse patient demographics, including challenging patients (e.g., IV drug users, pediatric, or special needs).

    • Navigate the Greater Bay Area using personal or company sponsored car for transportation for sample collection and delivery, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.

    • Requirement to respond within 30 minutes to the following locations:

    • County Jail in the following counties: Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda County/Berkeley, and Santa Clara

    • Maintain and manage supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for all types of jobs.

    • Process patient samples correctly and promptly for laboratory delivery, adhering to strict procedural standards.

    • Engage in continuous training and proficiency assessments as outlined in the Mobile Services Classroom Training, ensuring up-to-date knowledge and compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

    • Utilize electronic tools and platforms such as BayPLS EHR Scheduling Application for appointment management and MediaLab for mandatory training compliance.

    Education:

    • HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent education/experience

    • Active and current Certified Phlebotomy License in the state of California

    • Graduate of an accredited Certified Phlebotomy program consistent with the requirements for CPT License per Laboratory Field Services.

    • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association

    • This is a mobile role, frequent travel to and between job sites is required

      • Ability to be scheduled consistent hours is dependent upon your ability to work in various locations surrounding the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Marin and Santa Clara Counties
    • Bi-lingual strongly preferred.

    • 2 years phlebotomy and specimen collection experience desired

      • At least 6 months of high volume phlebotomy experience required
    • To remain active status, the position requires a minimum of three shifts per week

    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment.

    • Computer proficiency required, including prior experience with electronic medical record systems.

    • Ability to work daytime hours, flexibility may be required to meet staffing needs.

      • Working days are variable and offered seven (7) days a week.
    • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.

    • Familiar with or able to become familiar with computer software programs such as G-Suite, Airtable, Slack, & O365 & Electronic Medical Records systems

    Hours and days may vary depending on operational needs. There are frequent after hours calls related to this type of contractual work.

    Compensation:

    Please note that this is a non-benefited position and we are looking for candidates who want to start as part-time phlebotomists and potentially move to full-time roles if hours allow.

    $19-$20 per hour

    Night Differential rates apply

    Position is eligible for a retention bonus up to $500.00 subject to terms and conditions
