The World Languages Department is highly collaborative and shares resources, and we work to align grading practices to ensure department members evaluate tests, quizzes, homework and other student work within a similar framework, with student learning and outcomes at the center. We seek to support and encourage confidence in languages through practice with writing, speaking and listening.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach one section of French: 1 section of French I (courses may change in subsequent years).
    • A successful candidate would have the ability to teach across the French curriculum.
    • Collaborate closely with World Language Department members.
    • Plan lessons, create assignments and assessments, and develop other classroom opportunities to provide an engaging learning experience for all students.
    • Demonstrate a dedication to learning about our Catholic mission and then put into practice our Catholic mission and our Quality values, supporting students and colleagues in this endeavor.
    • Commit to continuous improvement through a focus on lifelong learning and professional collaboration across the institution.
    • Commit to creating classroom experiences that support our diverse student body and celebrate that diversity, rooted in our Catholic mission and the mission of the Sisters of the Divine Savior.
    • Commit to helping all students, regardless of their background, prior preparation, or skill level, grow in French language understanding and skill application, and grow in the Qualities of the Graduate.
    • Additional supervision and/or co-curricular or student club support and duties as needed (e.g., Den, study hall, lunch supervision, co-curricular or club support, etc.). Note: These expectations are adjusted to part-time positions.

    Education and/or Experience:

    Position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in French, or a WI DPI license in teaching French or the ability to attain one within three years of hire, and preferably high school teaching experience. Highly effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and a strong desire to assist all students to be successful are also required.

    Physical Demands:

    This position requires constant contact and communication with others, multitasking, repetitive motion, some standing, sitting, and bending, and requires the daily use of computers, various monitors and other office equipment.

    Work Environment:

    The work takes place primarily in an office/school environment. There is occasional travel.
