  • Responsibilities

    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Front Desk and Operations Associate (FDOA) role is divided into two main buckets: 1) providing front desk customer service; and 2) supporting program operations. The FDOA is typically the first person that participants and guests see when visiting the YouthBuild office. As a result, you would be responsible for making a great first impression and providing knowledgeable customer service. In addition to managing the front desk, you will also keep an eye on program inventory and support program events. This one-year, part-time position will be supervised by the Director of Youth Program Pathways. Preference will be given to a YouthBuild Just A Start alumni to fill this role.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Front Desk

    • Greet students, staff, and guests with a warm, inviting presence, and ensure all visitors follow established sign-in/sign-out policies
    • Admit students and staff into office, notify staff of visitors, and track student arrival/exit times
    • Keep the front desk area clean and organized, ensuring it is professional and welcoming
    • Address visitor’s questions and escalate inquiries to YouthBuild staff as needed
    • Monitor office, classroom, and kitchen supplies, and develop inventory replenishment orders
    • Receive and stock deliveries, maintaining clean and organized storage (e.g. kitchen, classroom, etc.)
    • Communicate with YouthBuild staff to identify needed office and classroom supplies and equipment
    • Contribute to program beautification initiatives (e.g. student photo wall, inspirational displays, etc.)

    Operations

    • Submit conference room reservations and set up rooms as needed (e.g. tables and chairs)
    • Research inventory options and make recommendations based on price and quality
    • Coordinate meal orders, decorations, and activities for program events (e.g. holiday parties, field day)
    • Complete other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS/ KEYS TO SUCCESS:

    • High school diploma or equivalency; additional certification in customer service preferred
    • Arrive on-time and work diligently for the entire shift: M, T, and Th (8:30 - 4 PM) and F (8:30 - 2 PM)
    • Communicate proactively with your supervisor regarding delays/absences.
    • Learner’s mentality, student-centered mindset, attention to detail, and reliability are a must
    • Interest in developing digital skills, especially related to Google Suite products (GMail, GDrive, etc.)
    • Attend weekly 1:1 meeting with supervisor, as well as weekly YouthBuild staff meeting
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding student matters and student-related issues

    WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Lead and/or participate in community building efforts across the organization and contribute to dialogues about and across differences in identity, and regarding cultural barriers, racial bias, and workplace norms and expectations.

    All employees and long-term consultants are required to be fully vaccinated and follow the organization's established protocols regarding COVID.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    This is a 28 hour per week in-office position. Wage starts at $20 / hour, with potential merit-based raises.

    Benefits include paid time off, employee assistance program, and 401k savings plan with a 3% employer contribution after 6 months of employment.
