    Synthesis

Synthesis is on a mission to build a “superhuman” math tutor — one that delivers deeply engaging, interactive learning experiences to kids all around the world. We’re a team of collaborators passionate about transforming how students learn.

    What You’ll Do

As a Frontend Engineer on the Tutor content engineering team, you will:

    • Design and develop “widgets,” which are highly dynamic, interactive digital math manipulatives at the core of our lessons.
    • Collaborate closely with content authors to brainstorm and refine prototypes, often iterating rapidly on designs.
    • Experiment and iterate quickly, pivoting when prototypes don’t pan out.
    • Research and implement new tools, patterns, or libraries to push the state of the art of our widgets forward.

    Who We’re Looking For

    • Early-Career Engineer : This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their software engineering journey. Professional experience is not required, but hunger to learn and real coding experience is crucial. You’ve built something outside of a school, tutorial, or bootcamp setting.
    • Curious & Analytical: You’re a strong problem solver who can break down complex tasks, reason through issues clearly, and propose logical, workable solutions.
    • Collaborative Creator : You thrive on brainstorming ideas and taking on (sometimes pointed) critiques to build the best possible product.
    • Adaptable & Resilient: When a prototype doesn’t work, you’re eager to regroup, learn, and try again.

    Technical Skills

No specific technologies are required, but you should have hands-on coding experience you can demonstrate. Familiarity with these is a strong plus:

    • TypeScript/JavaScript
    • HTML/CSS (Tailwind preferred)
    • React
    • Git
    • Animation libraries (Motion.dev / Framer Motion)

    Soft Skills

    • Collaborative Mindset : Building engaging math content is highly creative and requires constant iteration with content authors.
    • Thick Skin : Ideas at Synthesis can come from anywhere and anyone. Feedback is sometimes harsh, but always aimed at improving the product.
    • Resourcefulness : We’re pushing boundaries, so expect to learn and experiment with new methods/technologies.
    • Responsible & Self-Driven: In our fully remote environment, we need someone who proactively manages their own workload and reliably delivers results. We move fast and maintain a high bar for both quality and productivity.
    • Dual-Customer Focus : You’ll be building for both students and the content developers—understanding both sets of needs will be critical.

    Why Join Synthesis?

    • Mission-Driven Impact : Help build a superhuman Tutor that accelerates kids’ math learning and transforms their confidence.
    • Fast-Paced Collaboration : We launch new concepts rapidly—no long waits for PM sign-offs.
    • Visible Results : Seeing a student’s attitude toward math transform after a few sessions is incredibly rewarding.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Purely remote team, US timezone aligned
    • Salary range: $80,000-$110,000 depending on ability/experience/location
    • Meaningful equity (including optional early exercise)
    • 100% covered health insurance for you & your dependents (including medical, dental, vision)
    • 401(k) plan with company matching
    • Flexible time off
    • Flexible parental leave
    • Some benefits (such as medical and 401k) apply to US employees only.

    How to Apply

If this sounds like the right place for you, please send:

    • Your resume
    • A brief introduction about what excites you about this role
    • A portfolio of work (personal projects, GitHub repos, etc.). We will only consider applications that include examples of real coding projects.

We look forward to hearing from you!
