Summer Pediatrics is a reputed pediatric practice in Stamford that believes in nurturing the relationship with our patients and their families through our commitment to providing the best care for our patients. We are seeking a Medical Assistant to become a part of our awesome and dedicated team! You will be surrounded by individuals who are committed to providing the best care and difference in the lives of our patients in all socio-economic levels. As a patient-centered medical home, we expect empathy, comfort, excellent customer service skills, reliability, and compassion to help treat our pediatric patients. Pediatric Medical Assistants may handle both the administrative and clinical tasks in our practice to keep the office running efficiently. The medical assistant will be expected to cross-train and provide backup for our clerical staff.
Clinical duties include but are not limited to:
Greets patients and brings them into the clinical area to perform all necessary intake procedures including vital signs, history, allergies and verifies EMR information is updated with demographic, medication, and immunization history.
Assure that patient is prepared for their visit by maintaining an efficient workflow by obtaining clinical paperwork- forms, previous records, gowns, and equipment immediately available for provider use.
Assist Doctors with all medical procedures, triage, and be able to conduct in-office testing (finger stick and venipuncture) independently.
Prepare and sterilize medical instruments.
Securing referrals and ensuring testing appointments are scheduled.
Complete well-visit, camp, and school forms.
Provide patient education.
Collect all patient samples/specimens as directed by the physician.
Clean and restock rooms. Maintains inventory and ensures supplies are used adequately.
Verify, check, and complete inbox tasks assigned by the provider.
Discusses and review the schedule with providers for the next day.
Performs other assignments as assigned.
Administrative duties include but are not limited to:
Answering telephones and scheduling appointments.
Greeting patients and assisting with questions.
Obtain previous records, update and file patients' medical records.
Filling out insurance forms.
Handling correspondence.
Arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services.
Qualifications:
Previous experience is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with medical billing procedures.
Strong organizational skills.
Have the ability to work with a team of professionals and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
