ALS United Great New York's mission is to support and empower the ALS Community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing national and state advocacy, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by ALS. Our staff is comprised of professionals who support each other as we work together to serve persons with ALS and their families.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, Fundraising and Special Events, the Coordinator, Fundraising and Special Events will work on all aspects surrounding the development and implementation of ALS United Greater New York’s fundraising events and projects. Specifically, the Coordinator will support the Director by fundraising and coordinating logistics before, during and after the annual Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala and ALS Iron Horse Golf Classic. The Coordinator will also provide support for the Walk ALS program, the Team ALS endurance program, and general administrative support to the Events team.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, outgoing, organized with high attention to detail, has a customer service-focused mindset, is good at multi-tasking, and has experience in or a strong interest in working in special event fundraising. This position is based out of the NYC office. Applicants should include a cover-letter, as well as resume when applying for this position.
Responsibilities:
Solicit in-kind donations for both the Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala Silent Auction and ALS Iron Horse Golf Classic raffle. Work with auction donors and winners to ensure prizes are redeemed and acknowledged correctly and in a timely manner.
Utilize fundraising software to build event websites for online ticket sales, silent auctions, raffle purchases, etc. for the Gala and Golf Outing.
Design print/electronic materials for Gala and Golf including invitations, social media posts, silent auction/raffle display boards, winner certificates, signage, programs, slideshow, etc.
Attend all fundraising events and assist with on-site production, as needed. This will require some evenings, weekends, and travel within our area of service.
Provide outreach support, motivation, and guidance to Walk ALS participants.
Assist on other projects and events as assigned, including but not limited to the Young Professionals Group, Education and Resource Summit, and various ALS awareness campaigns and programs.

Qualification and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree required.
1-2 years of experience in fundraising, events, community engagement, or a related field.
Experience with volunteer management, public relations, marketing, and/or donor cultivation a plus.
Highly skilled with Microsoft Office products; Adobe Suite and/or Canva is preferred, ability to learn new software programs.
Proficiency with Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge, or other CRM and peer-to-peer fundraising tools, strongly preferred.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Outgoing, energetic, with strong written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
Diplomatic, able to work well under pressure, and a team player.
Must be able to work some nights and weekends, as needed.
Traveling to/from events will be required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to lift boxes, set up tables, etc., during the preparation of special events. Work is performed inside and outdoors, depending on the event.
