    ALS United Greater New York's mission is to support and empower the ALS Community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing national and state advocacy, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by ALS.     Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, Fundraising and Special Events, the Senior Manager, Fundraising and Special Events will primarily oversee fundraising and mission awareness efforts for ALS United Greater New York’s Peer-to-Peer Endurance program, Team ALS, which raises $500,000 annually through events including marathons, half marathons, cycling events, triathlons, and other races throughout the Greater New York Area. The Senior Manager is responsible for the acceleration and transformation of the endurance program—helping elevate awareness of the program, activating the community to increase participation, developing innovation opportunities to increase revenue, and providing one-to-one fundraiser support and customer service.

    As a member of the Fundraising and Special Events Team, the Senior Manager will also provide support for Walk ALS, cultivating and stewarding relationships with team captains, team members, and individual walkers. In addition, the Senior Manager will also oversee the third-party community fundraising program, Fundraise Your Way, as well as manage the Volunteer program, including the recruitment and organization of volunteers at all Walk and Endurance events.

    This is a full time position working 4 days per week at our downtown Manhattan office, with one remote day per week working from home. Additionally, periodic travel is required throughout the territory we serve (within approximately a 100-mile radius from Manhattan.)The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly organized with high attention to detail, and has a background in working in fundraising and special events. This position is based out of the NYC office.

    Responsibilities:

    Lead the recruitment of Team ALS participants, vetting endurance race applications and overseeing registration and onboarding of all participants for athletic events including the TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half, TD Five Boro Bike Tour, and other endurance races.

    Responsible for ensuring that all Team ALS athletes reach their fundraising goals through coaching, check-in calls, and emails.

    Maintain accurate financial reporting and status updates on all Team ALS Endurance Events to expand on previous success and improve where needed.

    Create post event debrief reports to highlight ROI, attendance, and participant feedback to enhance the following year’s events.

    Develop collaterals for Team ALS and other events as needed, creating Canva graphics for email mailings, signage, correspondence, and social media posts.

    Manage a portfolio of Walk teams in their fundraising efforts by developing and strengthening relationships to maximize team retention, engagement and fundraising, as well as cultivating and motivating new teams.

    Serve as lead for all events in the Fundraise Your Way program and third-party fundraisers. Provide fundraising resources, tangible support, and information about ALS United Greater New York for third-party fundraisers to use as they communicate with their friends, family and networks to increase conversion and brand loyalty.

    Represent the organization as needed at third-party fundraisers.

    Recruit and manage volunteers at external events, including Walk ALS and Team ALS events and their on-site event management.

    Support Team ALS, Fundraise Your Way, and Walk ALS donors with logistical and technical support through their online fundraising portal.

    Help identify new sources of revenue and cause-related marketing opportunities for Team ALS and Walk ALS.

    Assist on all other projects and events assigned, including but not limited to the Lou Gehrig Awareness Baseball games, ALS Iron Horse Golf Classic, the Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala, Young Professionals Group, and various other ALS awareness events and programs.

    Staff all events and assist with on-site production as needed. This will require some evenings, weekends, and travel.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Bachelor’s Degree required.

    3-5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, community engagement, or a related field.

    Demonstrated success in growing and managing fundraising programs, with experience in peer-to-peer fundraising preferred.

    Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage donors, volunteers, and corporate partners.

    Excellent project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

    Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

    Diplomatic, able to work well under pressure, and as a team player.

    Highly skilled with Microsoft Office products; Adobe Suite and/or Canva is preferred, ability to learn new software programs.

    Proficiency with Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge, or other CRM and peer-to-peer fundraising tools, strongly preferred.

    Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.

    Traveling to/from events will be required. Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to lift boxes, set up tables, etc., during the preparation of special events. Work is performed inside and outdoors, depending on the event.
