    Job Description

     

    The EHS Assistant will assist the Environmental, Health and Safety Department in the implementation and enforcement of the environmental, health and safety program.

    RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EHS ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

    •             Practice safe working techniques and enforce the EHS policies, guidelines and procedures as set out by the Company.

    •             Assist with inspections, assessments, surveys and program evaluations to identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations.

    •             Assist in the investigation of accidents, employee injuries, near misses and/or situations where safety procedures were not followed and complete the appropriate reports and/or other paperwork necessary.

    •             Assist with the follow up after an accident, incident or near miss situation to ensure the appropriate corrective actions have been implemented to prevent recurrence of a similar situation.

    •             Perform routine inspections of various life safety

    •             Perform administrative duties related to department records and files.

    •             Assist with the approval of Safety supplies and equipment for the company.

    •             Assist with the administration of Workers’ Compensation program.

    •             Assist with Workers’ Compensation record keeping.

    •             Provide support and assistance in the preparation, compilation and distribution of safety reports as needed.

    •             Regularly communicate with the Human Resources Department regarding updates or corrections of company policies, Workers’ Compensation claims and/or the search and selection of light duty positions for employees on restrictive duty because of a current Workers’ Compensation claim.

    •             Assist the EHS Department with administrative functions, such as setting up meetings with various individuals, departments and/or third parties.

    •             Perform other administrative duties such as typing letters/memos, faxing, copying, and distributing items as needed.

    •             Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications for EHS Administrative Assistant

    •             High school degree required; some college preferred.

    •             1-3 years of experience in Occupational Safety.

    •             Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws and regulations.

    •             Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations.

    •             Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws.

    •             Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).

    •             Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.

    •             Effective and efficient at conducting trainings and orientations.

    •             Ability to be a team player and to build and maintain relationships both internal and external.

    •             Strong written and verbal skills.

    •             Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

    •             Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
