POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurately and
efficiently processing outgoing shipments in a fast-paced manufacturing
environment. This role involves coordinating with various departments, preparing
shipping documentation, ensuring the correct packaging and labeling of products,
and maintaining an organized shipping area to support the smooth operation of
the manufacturing process. This position will also be a back-up drive as needed,
so will need to be able to pass a background check with driving history yearly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Order Processing: Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including
packaging, labeling, and documentation, ensuring that all products meet
quality and safety standards.
Documentation: Create and maintain accurate records of shipments,
including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels, and ensure that all
documentation complies with company and regulatory requirements.
Coordination: Collaborate with production, inventory, and customer service
teams to schedule and prioritize shipments, ensuring timely delivery to
customers.
Carrier Liaison: Coordinate with freight carriers and couriers to arrange pick-
ups and deliveries, obtain shipping quotes, and track shipments.
Inventory Management: Monitor shipping supplies inventory and notify the
supervisor of any shortages, ensuring that necessary materials are always
available.
Quality Control: Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure that items are packed
correctly, free from defects, and comply with customer specifications.
Problem Resolution: Address any shipping issues or discrepancies, such as
damaged products or incorrect orders, in a timely and efficient manner.
Compliance: Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality standards,
including proper handling of hazardous materials, if applicable.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to
enhance shipping efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, following 5S
principles to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
Delivery:
o Deliver products to GSM Customer
o Pass a background check, including a driving record check, with
continual monitoring of the driving record yearly.
o Comply with all federal and state driving laws.
Delivery Truck Maintenance:
o Periodically check the oil in the delivery cab over 16 ft truck/Van.
o Track truck mileage and perform other routine checks.
o Complete a weekly vehicle maintenance checklist.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse role, preferably
in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
o Proficiency with shipping software and systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx,
DHL).
o Excellent organizational and time management skills.
o Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up and carry to 75 lbs and stand for
extended periods and perform tasks that require repetitive motion.
Other: Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic knowledge
of shipping regulations and procedures.
Working Conditions:
This position operates in a manufacturing environment, which may include
exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures. Proper
safety gear (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots) is required.
