The Company
Our client is an exciting new startup in the commercial space industry. They are planning to do something that no one has ever done before: industrialize the moon. Their goal is to build out the infrastructure needed for future space exploration missions to and from the moon… and beyond!
The Job
Our client is seeking a creative, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to work in all areas from research and development to design and manufacturing, through to installation into their test environments. This person will be responsible for both the design and manufacturing of electro-mechanical components and systems. This person must have fabrication, machining, and/or welding experience.
Functions
- Drive entire new product development lifecycle activities (concept, design, prototype, manufacturing, testing, and integration).
- Conduct design reviews with stakeholders.
- Perform project manager activities including budget and timeline.
- Perform tests as part of our test team in our testing environments, including writing and executing test plans, test reports, test procedures, etc.
- Coordinate with electrical, software, and science team members to ensure successful project integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- 6+ years of experience designing, analyzing, building, integrating, and testing mechanical systems and components.
- Fabrication, machining, or welding experience required.
- CAD software proficiency (NX).
- FEA/FEM experience (NX, Ansys, COMSOL, etc.).
- Ability and willingness to “wear several hats” and work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing space hardware,
- Experience with thermal analyses, specifically in vacuum environments.
- Ability to read and write code (Python, C++, etc.) for simulations, analysis, PLC programming, etc.
- Experience with data analysis tools.
- Experience building and integrating with DAQ systems.
