Corium is a privately held commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company leading the development of new CNS healthcare products that provide clinicians with important treatment options for patients, caregivers, and their families.
The Business & Corporate Development Lead will report to the Head of Corporate Strategy & Business Planning, a key member of the Office of the CEO, to enable and accelerate Corium’s long-term strategy. This individual will lead target screening and evaluation, manage assessment of potential targets and partnerships, and support execution of Business Development opportunities for Corium’s pipeline, ex-US commercialization efforts, CDMO partnerships, and other transactions in conjunction with Corium’s senior management and private-equity owners.
This individual will also lead and support key cross-functional strategic projects, contribute to the development of strategy and tactics, and support creation of presentations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. The individual will partner with all levels of the organization and must effectively work with all key stakeholders, both internal and external to Corium.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - 60%
- Support the long-term company strategy for maximum value creation by leading the development / refinement of a business development strategy across Corium’s pipeline, ex-US commercialization efforts, CDMO partnerships and other transactions (as applicable)
- Lead target screening and evaluation, manage assessment of potential targets and partnerships, and support execution of Business Development opportunities in conjunction with Corium’s senior management and private equity owners.
- Manage the monitoring of business development activities and decision-making informational tools, including competitive analysis, working closely with private equity firm.
- Develop and maintain key external relationships and a broad sphere of influence across the business to achieve business development objectives and long-term strategy
CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT - 40%
- Manage and/or support multiple high priority and highly visible projects. Leverage and allocate resources as necessary and garner support from all impacted functions / stakeholders.
- Provide support that includes assessing inquiries directed to the Head of Corporate Strategy & Business Planning, determining the proper course of action, and enabling the appropriate resources to address.
- Serve as consultant and mentor to internal team members to resolve particularly difficult external partnership issues while maintaining and fostering a collaborative working relationship with partners
Required Skills
REQUIRED SKILLS / EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree require; MBA, Masters or PhD preferred
- 5-7+ years of relevant industry experience in biotech/pharma business development, consulting, investment banking, and/or venture capital and private equity environments
- Background in science is preferred, with a proven interest in biotech / pharma and an aptitude to quickly understand new science and technology.
- Understanding of and experience with Business Development and/or deal M&A process, including due diligence, valuation, financial, legal, and operational considerations
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing, prioritizing, due diligence, and significantly contributing to and / or leading transactions to completion.
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical business including drug development, manufacturing, and commercialization.
- Experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams, and ability to deliver on project timelines, progress, and outcomes
