Long-Term Opportunity! Looking for a highly skilled and motivated Gas and Electric Construction Inspector to oversee and assess gas construction projects Northwest of NYC in Orange and Rockland Counties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities adhere to company standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices. This position is crucial for upholding the safety and integrity of our gas distribution systems in the region. Please note that this role does not include per diem compensation. Responsibilities: • An Inspector will be required to inspect work performed by construction contractors and supervise assuring adherence to specifications, proper work methods, and appropriate use of facilities and equipment. • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, maps, plans, specifications, and procedures. They must possess the ability to keep accurate and detailed field records including daily job reports, material usage and locations, and field test records. • Be knowledgeable in the requirements of OSHA. All inspectors will be required to ensure that any job they’re overseeing is maintained in a safe manner and meets or exceeds safety and environmental policies and procedures. Inspectors will need to make sure the contractor’s equipment is being used within their limits. • Present a neat appearance. Have strong communication skills to interact and coordinate professionally, on a daily basis. • Have strong organizational skills to complete daily paperwork, maps, and documentation with a clear comprehension of construction units of measurement. • Be able to understand and implement Electric Standards and Work Procedures. • Inspectors must be able to understand and implement all Environment, Health, and Safety Plan (E-HASP) requirements. Ensures that each contractor complies with the respective environmental rules and regulations for each respective project location. • Be capable of handling customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner. • Provide input in conjunction with Quality Assurance field visits. • Assist in the Contractor Performance evaluation process. • Be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Qualifications: • Have prior experience and training in excavation, road, or utility construction with an emphasis on electric installations, plastic pipe installation, welding, and steel pipe fitting. Inspectors will be required to oversee construction projects on Overhead and Underground Electric Transmission, Substation, Overhead and Underground Distribution, Environmental, Facilities, and other types of electric utility projects. • Have a minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience. • An Inspector may be required to oversee multiple construction projects at varying stages at one time (from designing to completed final folder close out). • An Inspector must possess managerial skills, computer literacy, and a working knowledge of the utility industry. • NGA OQs required before starting work. Compensation: $40 - $60 hourly
