Position Qualifications:
· Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost structures.
· Minimum 2 years Estimating experience.
· Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
· Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.
· Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable).
· Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
· Proficiency in software programs such as: ProCore, On-Screen Take-off, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite including MS Project.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Position Summary:
· Review architectural & engineer drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements.
· Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and OH&P.
· Develop quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns.
· Research and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
· Compare and analyze subcontractor quotes to determine the most cost-effective options using bid tabs.
· Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals.
· Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality (value engineering).
· Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to refine project scope and pricing.
· Present cost estimates and justifications to internal and external stakeholders.
· Stay updated on material costs, labor rates, and market trends.
· Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors. · Assists with the creation of preliminary preconstruction schedules. · Prepare and maintain RFI logs in Procore. · Keep a compilation of in-house data to quickly create opinion of cost Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates · Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable). · Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable).
