Position Overview:
The General Maintenance/HVAC Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks across the campus, including HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance, as well as general building repairs. This role plays a key part in maintaining a high standard of comfort, safety, and functionality for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC Maintenance & Repair: Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for students and staff.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems to prevent breakdowns and costly repairs.
- General Building Maintenance: Perform general maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, painting, and groundskeeping, as needed.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations, including troubleshooting HVAC and other building system issues.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards. Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, HVAC service logs, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the facilities team, school administrators, and staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance and HVAC repair/maintenance, preferably in a school, healthcare, or similar facility.
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC troubleshooting and repair. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and building maintenance.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and identify solutions in a timely manner.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.

- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with staff, students, and vendors.
