Position Overview:
The General Maintenance/Plumber is responsible for maintaining and repairing plumbing systems across the campus as well as performing a variety of general maintenance tasks. This role will be essential to keeping our facilities in top shape, from fixing leaks and maintaining pipes to handling other basic maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plumbing Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, toilets, sinks, and other water fixtures throughout the campus.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, HVAC, lighting, and other building infrastructure to identify and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, including leaks, clogs, and equipment malfunctions.
- General Building Maintenance: Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed, including minor carpentry, basic electrical repairs, painting, and groundskeeping.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and building regulations. Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of plumbing work, service logs, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the facilities team, administrators, and other staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2+ years of plumbing and general maintenance experience, preferably in a school, healthcare facility, or similar setting.
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in plumbing systems and repairs, with basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and general maintenance.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues quickly and efficiently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in various conditions, including outdoor settings.
- Safety-Focused: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety procedures.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, students, and vendors.
