JOB TITLE: GENERAL MANAGER
Reports directly to Board of Directors
JOB FUNCTION(S):
To ensure the consistent achievement of the Company's mission and financial objectives through direct management of all manufacturing and administrative processes and activities.
EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- BS degree in Engineering, or related sciences
- A minimum of 15 years experience in medical device manufacturing or similar experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong presentation skills and the ability to effectively represent the Company
- Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills
- General computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft applications
- Substantial knowledge of and appreciation for medical device regulations such as GMPs, ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulations, Canadian and European Medical Devices directives
- Willingness to travel
- Background in plastics technology a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assure that the Company has a long-range production plan or strategy which achieves its mission and to which it makes consistent and timely progress.
- See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.
- Provide leadership in developing programs, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and carry out plans and policies authorized by Board, including sales and business development activities.
- Direct and manage all activities related to manufacturing so that quality products are manufactured on time and at, or below, budgeted costs while adhering to all appropriate regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for meeting production requirements, yields and cost standards.
- Ensure that processes, equipment and the facility meet applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
- Work with the QA Manager to implement and continuously evaluate quality policies and procedures for the entire organization.
- Develop departmental goals and strategies to maximize efficiencies, improve processes and create a productive team within the organization.
- Direct, monitor and evaluate the performance of all manufacturing managers and supervisors.
- Ensure that organization structure, resources, facilities and capital equipment are available to meet long-term production forecasts.
- See that the Board of Directors is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the medical device field.
- Work together with the Operations Manager and department heads in implementing and enforcing Company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional business image and high level of confidentiality in all matters.
