A General Manager (GM) in a restoration and construction company is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business to ensure it operates efficiently and profitably, including leading teams, managing finances, and ensuring compliance. This role also involves building strong relationships with clients and sub contractors, developing strategic plans, and implementing operational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Leadership and Team Management:
The GM leads and motivates the team, including project managers, superintendents, and other staff, ensuring they are clear on their roles and responsibilities. This includes recruiting, hiring, training, and developing staff.
· Project Management:
The GM oversees all aspects of project management, from initial assessment and mitigation to reconstruction and closure. This includes developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
· Client Relations:
The GM builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are managed.
· Financial Management:
The GM manages the company's finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and ensuring profitability.
· Operational Oversight:
The GM oversees all aspects of the company's operations, including safety, compliance, and quality control.
· Strategic Planning:
The GM develops and implements strategic plans to achieve company goals, including market expansion and new service offerings.
· Contractor Relations:
The GM manages relationships with contractors, ensuring they deliver quality work on time and within budget.
· Problem Solving:
The GM identifies and resolves any issues that arise, whether it's a project delay, a budget overrun, or a staff conflict.
· Compliance:
The GM ensures that all projects and operations comply with relevant safety regulations, building codes, and insurance requirements.
· Communication:
The GM communicates effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, staff, and contractors, providing regular updates on project progress and company performance.
