  • Responsibilities

    Position Overview

    The Department Manager (Low Voltage) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple projects, managing teams, and ensuring operational success within their assigned region. This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance operational execution, financial management, and strategic planning to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients, including hyperscale data centers and long-term infrastructure projects.

    With oversight of up to 150-200 personnel and $50M-$60M in annual revenue, the Department Manager plays a critical role in driving business growth, maintaining client satisfaction, and developing talent across their teams.


    Key Responsibilities

    1\. Leadership & Team Management

    • Supervise and mentor 4-6 Project Managers and their respective teams, including superintendents and field staff, ensuring alignment with company goals.

    • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to build high-performing teams while maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.

    • Handle recruitment, performance reviews, and professional development for department personnel.

     

    2\. Operational Oversight

    • Oversee the successful execution of projects ranging from $10M to $60M, including structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and hyperscale data center projects.

    • Manage workload distribution, ensuring projects meet client timelines and quality standards.

    • Drive process improvements, standardize best practices, and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

     

    3\. Financial Management

    • Own P&L responsibility for the department, including monitoring monthly revenue, profitability, and cash flow.

    • Oversee billing and collections processes, ensuring timely payments and clear communication with clients.

    • Collaborate with executive leadership to align department performance with company objectives.

     

    4\. Client Relations

    • Act as the primary liaison with end users, general contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring strong relationships and excellent client satisfaction.

    • Support sales teams in fostering client relationships and identifying opportunities for new business.

     

    5\. Strategic Planning

    • Partner with leadership to develop and implement growth strategies for long-term success.

    • Ensure alignment between department goals and broader organizational objectives.


    Qualifications

     

    Education & Experience

    • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, or a related field preferred.

    • Minimum 7 years of experience in project management, construction, or telecommunications.

    • At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large teams and multimillion-dollar projects.

     

    Skills & Competencies

    • Proven expertise in managing structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or related scopes of work.

    • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, P&Ls, and profitability metrics.

    • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide diverse teams.

    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Project) and project management tools.

     

    Additional Requirements

    • Willingness to travel up to 25% to meet with teams in Phoenix, AZ, and Salt Lake City, UT, or other project sites as needed.

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards.

    Locations

    This position is primarily remote but requires travel to Phoenix, AZ, and Salt Lake City, UT, with occasional visits to other project locations. Candidates based in one of these areas are preferred.
