General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Operations manager, the Mechanic performs maintenance work necessary to move, install, repair or erect all types of hospital equipment. Works in accordance with prints, sketches, manual or instructions interpreting mechanical requirements and calculating necessary dimensions. Follows necessary safety precautions such as lockout, tag-out.
Key Responsibilities:
Has the knowledge and ability to use the required tools to complete assigned tasks safely. Has the knowledge of using the correct tool for the job. Acquire/returns tools to the correct locations in good operating condition.
Observes good housekeeping practices. Cleans up work area after each task. Keeps work area, shop and vehicles neat and organized.
Provides and consistently gives cooperative and courteous service to visitors, patients, staff, vendors and co-workers as part of the organization’s commitment to quality services. Practices good team work with all in the shop.
Locate/Order appropriate parts/supplies for repairs and maintenance activities as needed. Follow up on orders for arrival times. Once orders received, ensure parts get taken to appropriate storage locations. Ensure unused parts/supplies and tools get stored back in appropriate locations.
Follows good time management practices. Utilizes all time to benefit Parrish Healthcare. Communicates with team to try bundle work orders when going off-site.
Utilize work order system to track activities and time. Creates and completes work orders correctly. Enters clear comments on work completed. Logs time correctly. Completes and turns in correct paperwork associated with work orders as needed.
Complete assigned training. Complete unassigned training/cross training to better prepare for completing multiple tasks needed at Parrish Healthcare. Assist in training others on the team.
Completes assigned PMs in a timely manner. Fills out work order and reports correctly and accurately. Turns in applicable reports in a timely manner.
Performs painting task as assigned.
Works collaboratively with trades, (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronic), to ensure work requested that may have been assigned or attempted by mechanic are completed.
Perform repairs in the following as needed and assigned, (desk, shelving, locks, plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, drywall, etc)
Understands role and responds to all applicable disasters and drills.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Work Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Valid Florida Drivers Licenses FDL valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that is acceptable to PMC’s corporate automobile insurance carrier. License will be screened prior to employment and at least annually thereafter.
