    Job Description

    The Sample Technician is responsible for collecting samples, labeling samples, and operating in a safe and efficient manner.

    Job Duties:

    • Sticker sample bags for 5150 drills
    • Take bags and tags to 6290 drills
    • Take proper field duplicate samples
    • Take proper collar samples when necessary
    • Pick up samples from drills and take to lab with CRM and SRM
    • Follow company safety and environmental standards
    • Complete Stop & Think forms for each new task
    • Assist with connex work

    Qualifications

    • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
    • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
    • Able to lift 50lbs

      • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear, and see.

    • Be able to walk over rugged terrain up to 6 miles per day in hot & humid and/or cold weather with occasional rain & snow.

    • Must be able to work shift work with 12 hour shifts.

    • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.

    • Work is in a surface mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.

    • Safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways, off-road, and on an active mine site.

    • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
    • Must be able to climb 25’ vertical ladder sections unaided.
    • Occasionally lifting moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) may be required during the workday.
