The ** Education and Incentives Counseling Specialist** provides critical support in the recruitment and retention of Soldiers by offering expert counseling on military educational benefits. This role involves delivering accurate, current, and comprehensive information about available education benefits to both prospective and current service members. As the face of the Army in these matters, the specialist will ensure that all Soldiers, whether in the recruiting phase or on their career journey, are supported in making informed decisions about their educational opportunities. The specialist will offer hands-on assistance to bridge the gap between benefit eligibility and utilization, ensuring that Soldiers receive timely, accurate, and personalized guidance. The role requires a high level of customer service and attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining compliance with military policies and deadlines.
What does a typical day look like for a Education and Incentives Counseling Services Support?
The Education and Incentives Counseling Specialist's day is dynamic. The role involves providing counseling to service members on educational benefits like the G.I. Bill, assisting with degree planning, and managing tasks in the Guard Incentive Management System (GIMS). The specialist prepares for and delivers educational briefings, coordinates with educational institutions and scholarship programs, and updates materials to reflect new policies. Throughout the day, they verify Joint Service Transcripts, manage educational resources, and submit weekly reports detailing their actions. The day ends with follow-up communication to ensure all tasks are on track for the next day.
