    The ** Loan Repayment Specialist** is responsible for providing comprehensive assistance in managing and processing loan repayment incentives for service members assigned to the Georgia Army National Guard (GAARNG). The individual in this position will be responsible for confirming eligibility, recommending payments, and managing the suspension, reinstatement, or termination of incentives in a timely and accurate manner. The role requires proficiency in using the Guard Incentive Management System (GIMS), the sole platform for processing incentives transactions.

    What does a typical day look like for a Loan Repayment Specialist?

    The Loan Repayment Specialist's day is dynamic. The role involves reviewing and processing loan repayment actions, verifying eligibility through the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), and updating the Guard Incentive Management System (GIMS) with accurate data. The role includes resolving issues related to loan repayments, ensuring documentation is complete, and responding to inquiries from service members and staff. The professional also verifies records in iPERMS, tracks progress, and submits status updates to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Throughout the day, tasks are managed to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy, with a focus on ensuring compliance with policies and resolving any discrepancies.

    • Completion of the Incentive Manager course (distance learning phase) at https://guardu.ng.mil.
    • Completion of the Comptrollers and Fiscal Law course at https://jagu.army.mil.
    • Access to GIMS through the completion of the Incentive Manager course (resident phase) at NGPEC.
    • Strong attention to detail with a high accuracy rate in processing data and documentation.
    • Excellent communication skills for providing clear and timely updates to service members and staff.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and accuracy standards.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of the Guard Incentive Management System (GIMS).
    • Familiarity with iPERMS and GIS systems.
    • Experience with loan repayment programs or similar administrative processes in a military or government setting.
