Overview:
Seeking to fill the Geotechnical Assistant Project Manager position.
The Geotechnical Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting with the management of clients and projects, preparing geotechnical engineering reports, performing geotechnical engineering calculations, and performing special inspections in support of: borings, test pits, earth retaining structures (temporary and permanent), soil and rock inspection, deep/shallow foundations, construction plan and specification adherence, and field coordination with subconsultants.
This position requires work primarily out of South Plainfield, NJ office, but also occasional travel throughout the tri-state area.

What you get to do:
- Use of lab and field equipment for making evaluations of soil conditions/properties
- Perform geotechnical field investigations and construction inspections
- Prepare daily detailed site inspection reports based on field operations completed
- Perform technical research and utilize computers in developing solutions to engineering problems including geotechnical evaluations to prepare calculation documents; preparation of detailed geotechnical engineering reports; analysis of geotechnical samples; field testing of soils
- Prepare technical reports, write memos, make recommendations and convey engineering solutions/recommendations
- Developing geotechnical designs and solutions from concept through final design stages
- Maintaining client relations
- Managing project budgets for field inspection and design efforts
- Experience with field testing and data collection requirements
- Work with several other team members including engineering professionals, designers and technicians, permit specialists, planners, CAD and graphic specialists, architects, construction management specialists, and several other disciplines
- Assist in the management of field staff and reviewing staff field documents/reports
- Efficiently delegating tasks to team members
- Train entry level staff
- Field personnel coordination
- Proposal writing and review, includes pricing from subcontractors
- Preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
- Procurement of subcontractors for support during geotechnical investigations/design
- Reviewing contracts and assisting in the preparation of subconsultant/vendor contracts
- Understand and assist with development of project schedules and meeting deadlines
- Preparation and review of drawing sets and calculation packages
- QA/QC of drawings, calculations, reports, etc.
- Approval of time and expense sheets for field staff
- Assist with invoicing
Your background and expertise:
- B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or related engineering degree, Masters preferred, but not required.
- Engineer-In-Training working towards obtaining a Professional Engineering license (P.E.), P.E. preferred, but not required.
- 4+ years of experience
- Proficiency in design software tools including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
- Proficiency with gINT geotechnical engineering software
- Proficiency in LRFD/ASD design and complex analysis software including RISA, DeepXcav, and AllPile
- Experience in analysis of below grade walls, retaining structures, and foundations
- Experience in conducting geotechnical and construction special inspections
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers, clients, and contractors
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong design skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
Pay:
- $85,000 to $100,000 base salary
