    Purpose of the position:

    Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Indianapolis is a majority volunteer-supported non-profit that provides services to the unsheltered and individuals and families in need throughout Central and Southern Indiana. The Gift Officer will support Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Indianapolis in developing relationships with prospects and donors. The candidate will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors; setting goals and developing annual plans for an existing assigned portfolio; developing prospects; working in concert with volunteer leadership to create and implement prospect strategies, and managing donor relations with existing donors via the constituent database. The Gift Officer will work with staff and volunteer partners to achieve fundraising goals and increase overall development results.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify, cultivate, solicit and provide stewardship to a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, specifically gifts of $10,000 and above from individual donors.
    • Make a minimum of 8 individual face-to-face contacts monthly.
    • Proactively identify new prospects for fundraising and volunteer recruitment purposes and assist the director with the major gift management process.
    • Develop and implement prospect strategies; create and implement strategic plans.
    • Work both independently and as part of a team, provide outstanding support and communication to organizational leadership, and work effectively with colleagues.
    • Maintain constituent database for accuracy and perform donor relations tasks.
    • Coordinate with the Philanthropy Director to track prospect goals (including visits, solicitations, and stewardship).
    • Assist with the planning and execution of the organization’s two special events each year.
    • Travel as required.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Preferred candidate should have a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, with at least 5 years of progressive experience in major gifts and/or leadership giving
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Donor database or other CRM experience preferred
    • Strong professional writing and organizational skills
    • Superior attention to detail
    • Professional discretion in working with confidential and sensitive data
    • Valid IN driver’s license and auto insurance
