Nino Salvaggio is looking for a Gift and Housewares Buyer to oversee the buying and merchandising of floral gifts, gift baskets, housewares and general merchandise for all locations.
Responsibilities: · Oversees and evaluates the appearance and integrity of all general merchandise products to ensure they comply with the company’s freshness standards and our customer’s quality expectations.
· Ensure the inventory levels are at the company standards and there are not any out of stock items for the current selections in the cases and well as the sales floor. If there are out of stock items, ensure they are in production or on order.
· Ensure items are packaged attractively with the correct labeling of price, correct label in the correct placement, correct PLU and signed correctly.
· Ensure products are being purchased from the authorized vendor.
· Ensure general merchandise is processed timely and kept organized.
· Ensure products are transferred between stores when a store is long on a product.
· Evaluate problem areas, areas of concern and potential problem areas and develop a Plan of Action to correct them to discuss with the department manager as well as the general manager. Must follow up to ensure that the areas are corrected or remedied.
· Assist in the research, testing, and analyzing of new products for the departments, per company guidelines.
· Must ensure that all Floral Departments are adhering to all company standards on cost control, customer service, merchandising, product quality, employee relations, product presentation, product preparation, ordering, inventory, cleanliness, rotation, sanitation and organization.
· Assists Floral Managers in determining the variety and quantity of general merchandise products to be carried in the department, according to orders, sales projections and customer base.
· Assist the Floral Managers with their department merchandising and budget plans and department goals, coordinating these plans and goals with the General Manager and Director of Operations.
· Works with Department Managers and Director of Operations in negotiating with suppliers to arrange purchase and delivery of floral supplies and products. Reviews and monitors department purchasing of products and supplies in order to maximize operating results.
· Ensures that the Floral Department in all stores follow approved procedures for receiving product, dating, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, public image, accuracy and product rotation. · Works with the Department Managers to check and verify floral department merchandise received to ensure that all items listed on vendor invoices are delivered. Spot checks products for quality standards, count or weight and condition.
· Works with Department Managers to prioritize goals to maximize operating results.
· Comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and memos, and state and federal safety policies, procedures, guidelines and laws; work with Floral Managers to ensure that they are properly training their associates and that employees within the department are complying with company policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook and memos, and state and federal safety policies, procedures, guidelines and laws.
· Maintain good communications in the store and throughout the organization. Develop Floral Managers and assist with the development of Assistant Managers and associates within the departments through training, supervision, delegation and appropriate rewards and discipline.
· Be responsive to all company management’s comments or areas of concern in the Floral Departments.
· Assist departments as needed with customer service and ensure that the department personnel are providing customers with prompt and courteous service and/or assistance, per our company customer service standards.
· Ensure efficient Floral Department organizational structure by assisting with the recruitment, employment, development, and recommendation of potential candidates for promotion from within if capable.
· Ensure that the Department Managers are maintaining accurate schedules and time and attendance programs established in company computer systems.
· Produce accurate reports and results for the departments as needed.
· The ability to motivate Department Managers, Assistant Department Managers and associates to achieve company sales, cost control and customer service goals.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be available to work 50 hours per week including weekends.
Must have at least 3 years experience in buying.
Previous multi store management preferred.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
