We have an immediate need for a full-time, non-exempt STRIVE Educator. The STRIVE Educator oversees Healthy Sexuality programming for youth between the ages of 10-15 at the Girls Inc. of Boston facility and in the community. The rate for this position is $23.00 per hour. As a full-time role, the STRIVE Educator is eligible to participate in the organization's benefits program.
POSITION OVERVIEW (What we're looking for )
As a member of the Middle School and Teens department, The STRIVE Educator develops, manages, and evaluates innovative programs that focus on reaching youth prior to the initiation of sexual activity and risk for unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections as well as increasing educational and economic opportunities through greater connection to community resources and positive developmental assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES (What you'll be achieving)
At a minimum, the STRIVE Educator will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (What you'll bring along)
Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is strongly desired. The educational requirement may be substituted with four years of relevant experience.
Experience : Minimum of two years of related experience working with adolescents or positive youth development approaches is highly preferred.
Qualifications : To be optimally successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Prior experience working with youth and adults in a multicultural, urban setting.
Ability to identify community needs and changing environmental norms around youth.
Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, and experiences.
Capacity to manage behavior using an emphatic and solution-seeking approach.
Commitment to addressing the impact of racism, gender inequity, and other oppressions that restrict the healthy development of the youth being served.
Capability to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, supportive and creative environment for youth, staff and volunteers.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, plan ahead, and anticipate and articulate program needs.
Excellent management, organizational, and group facilitation skills.
Proficient computer skills, including internet navigation.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
