    POSITION TITLE:

    Grant Writer

    COMPENSATION:

    Hourly compensation is $20-$24. Hours per week will typically fall between 15-20 hours. This role primarily involves office work with the opportunity to occasionally work remotely.

    Advancement Director

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    The Mattress Factory grant writer is a key part of the museum’s development team and is responsible for seeking and securing grant funding to advance the Mattress Factory mission and programming. The grant writer reports directly to the Advancement Director and will work closely with colleagues across the museum.

    The grant writer is primarily responsible for writing compelling, comprehensive proposals and reports to foundations, government entities, and corporate donors. The grant writer will also assist in strategic fundraising discussions with Development staff, prospect research, and tracking application and report deadlines.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Draft and compile compelling letters, proposals, and applications to request funds from foundation, corporate and government donors.

    Draft and compile comprehensive, accurate reports and acknowledgment letters to foundation, corporate, and government donors.

    Assist in the creation and identification of annual and/or as needed development and fundraising plans, strategies and goals.

    Assist in the creation of comprehensive, realistic and accurate project budgets.

    Work with other departments to coordinate grant requirements and content, as well as to collect and synthesize data.

    Ensure all drafts and materials, as well as submissions and correspondence, are completed in a timely manner, with adequate time for review and approval.

    Assist with management of timelines and tracking system for grant applications, renewals, and report deadlines.

    Assist in the prospective research and identification of potential foundation, government and corporate donors.

    Acquire and maintain strong knowledge of Mattress Factory mission, programming, voice, and activities.

    Assist in ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

    Assist in the creation and implementation of long-term fundraising strategies and goals.

    Perform other duties, as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields, including communications, journalism, creative writing, media, or relevant experience required.

    · Excellent, demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication.

    · Demonstrated experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably in the non-profit sector.

    · Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to engage in strategic planning and process improvement.

    · Strong adherence to internal and external deadlines.

    · Ability to function effectively as a team member and willingness to participate in activities and assignments that help meet shared goals.

    · Highly organized and detail oriented; accuracy is a must.

    · Proficient skill in Microsoft Office Suite.
