We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grant Writing Assistant to support the preparation of a renewal application for the NIH P-30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG). This role requires expertise in cancer research and grant writing, with a preference for candidates with direct experience in NIH P30 grants. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that the application meets all funder requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review narrative components of the CCSG application to ensure alignment with NIH/NCI guidelines and the sponsor’s mission and goals.
- Conduct research and propose targeted edits to enhance narrative clarity, persuasiveness, and compliance with current NIH/NCI requirements.
- Provide detailed feedback and collaborate on iterative reviews of each grant component.
- Verify adherence to all NIH/NCI formatting and content guidelines, ensuring compliance.
- Edit and proofread grant narratives for grammar, style, logical flow, and overall coherence.
- Assist in gathering, organizing, and formatting supporting documents, including letters of support and organizational profiles.
- Contribute to the development, writing, and structuring of grant components as needed to meet funder requirements.
- Support the creation of a comprehensive work plan and timeline, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Cancer Biology, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences).
- Extensive experience in grant writing and editing, with a strong preference for NIH grant experience.
- Direct experience with NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to conduct detailed research and analysis to inform proposal development.
- Familiarity with academic medical research institutions and complex grant applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working with NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers or similar institutions is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of community outreach programs, clinical trial access, or federal funding mechanisms, is preferred but not required.
