    Police Academy Instructor (part-time): Instructs students in basic, advanced and specialized law enforcement classes.

    This position pays $30/hr.

    Responsibilities:

    75% Utilizes diverse instructional methodologies based upon proven adult learning principles while presenting and incorporating classroom and practical, scenario-based performance outcome training programs.

    10% Works as a team member in the Police Academy.

    10% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.

    5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Police Academy.

    Qualifications:

    TCOLE Basic Instructor certification preferred or must be designated, in writing, as a subject matter expert in the course by the training coordinator to adhere to TCOLE RULE §215.10: Course Instructor Requirements:

    (a) An instructor teaching a course must:

    (1) hold a valid instructor license; (2) certificate; or (3) be designated, in writing, as a subject matter expert in the course by the training coordinator.

    Demonstrated ability to engage student in the learning process and proven commitment to student success.

    Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.

    Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.

    Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing resultant data, and implementing improvement plans.

    Excellent computer and multimedia skills.

    Excellent communication and organizational skills.

    Many classes are held outside on campus and on west campus, firearms range, PT room, in and around vehicles, etc.
