  • Responsibilities

    The Senior Resource Association (SRA) is seeking a dedicated Grounds Custodian to join our Building & Grounds team in Vero Beach, FL. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Grounds Custodian will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and daily upkeep of SRA facilities, transportation hubs, bus shelters, and surrounding grounds.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform general outdoor maintenance, including blowing leaves, removing debris, and keeping walkways clear.
    • Empty trash bins at all bus stops, transportation hubs, and facility grounds daily.
    • Power wash bus shelters as needed to maintain cleanliness.
    • Monitor outdoor areas to ensure they are safe, clean, and accessible.
    • Assist with the installation and maintenance of bus stop signage.
    • Identify and report maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures or outdoor hazards.
    • Assist with setup and breakdown for meetings, events, or special projects.
    • Follow all safety protocols and use equipment properly.
    • Support emergency response efforts, including storm preparation and recovery.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Knowledge of grounds maintenance, including debris removal and outdoor facility upkeep.
    • Ability to operate tools and equipment such as leaf blowers, trimmers, power washers, and hand tools safely.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
    • Basic knowledge of signage installation and minor facility upkeep.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

    Job Requirements:

    • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
    • Frequent standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Previous experience in grounds keeping, maintenance support, or related work preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to pass a Level II background check with employment eligibility through DOEA.
