    The Glen, a premier Senior Living Community is searching for an experienced and motivated Groundskeeping Supervisor.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The primary responsibility is to maintain the overall appearance of the exterior property. This includes daily, weekly, and annual upkeep. Oversight of the groundskeepers and contract grounds vendors in order to maintain the overall appearance of the exterior property.

    SHIFT: 8-hour shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) Monday – Friday

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Supervise Groundskeeping personnel with responsibility for:

    Recruitment, Orientation, Training, Performance Review, Termination

    Preparation of staffing schedules adequate to accomplish necessary tasks

    Coordinate with Director of Facilities to ensure all checklist items and special projects are complete

    Establishment of clear lines of authority and creation of a positive atmosphere for communication

    Daily monitor grounds and water features to be debris free at all times.

    Sweep Patios and Porches to keep free of debris, cobwebs and reposition outdoor furniture on a daily basis. Monitor irrigation system throughout the campus to check for malfunction.

    Make minor repairs and adjustments as needed Inform Director of the need for service. Supplement all areas with hose watering, as needed.

    Monitor landscaped areas and advise Director of irregularities.

    Trees and Shrubs - Check regularly for disease and damage. Notify Director of damage.

    Prune, spray and fertilize smaller patio/entry trees/shrubs on a regular basis.

    Responsible for maintaining potted plants at entry ways.

    Empty outside dog waste cans

    Monitor parking lots, walkways and driveways to ensure they are free of debris on a regular basis.

    Inspects fence lines on a regular basis.

    Power wash high traffic areas on a regular basis. May power wash other areas as requested, including windows

    Clean and treat outdoor furniture, annually.

    Maintain sidewalks during inclement weather.

    Assist with outdoor holiday decorations.

    Assist Director with other outdoor projects as assigned.

    Will schedule work so that all high-profile areas are attended to according to procedure.

    Works cooperatively with Contract Grounds Service

    Maintains equipment in good working order through preventive maintenance & repairs and maintains appropriate amounts of gardening supplies and equipment

    Maintains grounds storage/utility areas in neat, orderly condition

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Directly supervises groundskeepers.

    Responsible for training, mentoring and providing direction to groundskeepers on maintaining the overall grounds appearance.

    Meets periodically with Executive Assistant to CEO to review the groundskeeper check list and to discuss special event requests and confirm all items are being completed in a timely manner.

    Coordinates and works cooperatively with Contract Grounds Service

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

    Must be able to work overtime as required.

    Well organized and self-motivated.

    General gardening and grounds knowledge.

    Prior grounds experience, preferred.

    Hand, eye coordination and dexterity to perform functions with various tools and equipment

    Ability to understand desired results and work without supervision

    Working knowledge of safe use of common gardening tools & equipment

    Valid state driver’s License

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.

    Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.

    Extensive walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, reaching

    Tolerant of extreme temperatures

    Tolerant of pollen, mold, etc. expected to be encountered in yard work

    Outside work with exposure to extended periods of sun, wind, rain, humidity

    Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights and ceiling fans
