    Group Brand Director

    McJ is looking for a Group Brand Director who demonstrates passion in all that they do to lead a significant agency account. This role protects and grows the agency’s relationship(s) with its client base as well as prospective clients, while maintaining full responsibility for key pieces of business. It goes a long way if you are an outdoors enthusiast who can talk about all things sport.

    You’re an entrepreneur, a partner and excellent listener. Your focus is driving the clients’ business and brand through inspiring, groundbreaking creative solutions that stand out and deliver results.

    Succeeding at this position requires leadership, autonomy, polished management skills, organizational vision, collaboration, tactical excellence. Sharp creative instincts are needed, as well as keen business savvy.

    Ideal Candidate is based in the Austin, TX area.

    Responsibilities:

    Business and Team Management

    Passionately defends, grows and manages client(s) with revenue in the $5 million–$10 million+ range.

    Responsible for business leadership and marketing plan development. Leads the agency through an understanding of client marketing and business context.

    Develops new methodologies and work practices that improve the agency’s and client’s performance and profitability.

    Provides inspiring team training and thoughtful input on career road maps.

    Allocates resources creatively, balancing client needs with profitability.

    Assigns, delegates and manages a core team of six to 10 people.

    Proactively manages scopes and revenue in time for the agency to act.

    Prospects potential clients and nurtures leads. Is tapped to lead new business opportunities.

    Relationship Leadership

    Ensures the agency operates on a solid foundation by building strong, impenetrable executive client relationships through business and marketing acumen.

    Possesses a superior understanding of clients’ business issues, marketing, industry, competitors and brands, and uses these insights to help clients to articulate their needs and the agency to propose groundbreaking solutions.

    Communicates powerfully, is credible and engenders trust with executive clients.

    Easily builds rapport with others.

    Is constantly attuned to the evolving needs of the client.

    Is trusted to lead on behalf of clients and is viewed as an exceptional leader by agency colleagues.

    Resolves conflict easily and quickly, reducing organizational and interpersonal issues.

    Is deeply engaged in development of the brand team.

    Strategic Development

    Leads all marketing aspects of plan development and partners with strategic leadership to create innovative ways to impact client business results in all disciplines.

    Acts as the clients’ investment manager and treats their budgets as if they are your own, looking for marketing effectiveness and efficiencies at every turn.

    Persuasively drives new client recommendations.

    Understands the role of new media, digital and technology platforms within the clients’ marketing mix. Inspires clients and agency to new platform solutions.

    Continually inspires teams to generate new ideas and evolve existing programs.

    Constantly consulted by other team members for problem-solving and your personal point of view.

    Solution Development and Execution

    Oversees campaign development stages to ensure the work meets client expectations and further development opportunities are realized through the process.

    Adds critical insights during major creative concept reviews and helps push the work to be standout.

    Participates and helps lead creative presentations on major campaigns and plays a major role in selling the work.

    Merchandises the performance of the work through the client organization to provide future development opportunities.

    Financial Management

    Consistently delivers on revenue and margin targets.

    Identifies organic growth opportunities and leads development plans.

    Closely monitors and improves the financial health of account(s).

    Considers all financial implications of business decisions and chooses solutions that grow the agency’s bottom line.

    Partners with the Managing Director and finance on contractual relationships and fee negotiations, and monitors contract compliance.

    Required Education and Experience:

    At least 15 years at an innovative agency.

    National brand experience required and retail brand experience a plus.

    Experience managing people required.

    Proven track record of managing multimillion-dollar accounts successfully.

    Proven record of identifying and fostering long-term scope growth.

    Relationships with potential clients.

    Takes the hard conversations head on, valuing straightforwardness.

    Earns trust through good listening, empathy and responsibility.

    Distills information down to clear and actionable plans.

    Proficient in strategy, media, creative development, production and finance.
