POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Programs Coordinator (SAC/Sports) intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing while developing, organizing and implementing high quality YMCA youth, teen, adult, and adaptive program(s). The main function of this position is coordinating School Age Care Programs (SAC) and sports programs throughout the Grundy Center YMCA, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee youth, teen, adult, and adaptive sports.
Oversee special events and tournaments, held at The YMCA and off-site.
Responsible for planning and implementation of Youth, Teen, Adult, Adaptive Sports, and Special Events.
Responsible for knowing, understanding, and overseeing the implementation of all sports programs under regulations necessary to ensure a quality program. Programs coordinator from Black Hawk YMCA can also assist when necessary.
Work hands-on building the YMCA sports programs, including coaching, game day supervision, set-up/tear down, refereeing, monitoring, score keeping, etc.
Provide appropriate input on program additions and changes.
Recruit, train, develop and evaluate coaches, referees, SAC staff members, and other personnel necessary to ensure quality delivery of early learning center programs.
Create weekly scheduling of staff and their development which includes planning and conducting staff meetings on a regular basis, to enhance communication, provide necessary training, and provide other staff the opportunity to be involved in program development, creative problem-solving, and to provide their input to successful program operation.
Assist, when necessary, in ratio within our before and after school programs.
Ensure incident/accident reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
Assists with managing the program within annual budget parameters, including overseeing and managing staff hours and overseeing participant fees and payments.
Promotes program enrollment and participation.
Maintains monthly work schedules for staff, bi-weekly time sheets and all required childcare forms, completing and submitting monthly forms to appropriate offices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree (or working towards) in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience facilitating youth development and sports programs, including such areas as sports classes/clinics, camps, before/after school programs, and/or enrichment programs for all-ages.
Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Excellent social skills, with the ability to conduct important conversations with members of the community.

The employee must be able to commute to program locations for program needs. Indirect mileages related to work functions are reimbursable for employees.
