    ACCOUNTING MANAGER, NONPROFIT WORK LOCATION: HYBRID – MUST BE ABLE TO COME INTO THE ACTON, MA OFFICE AT LEAST WEEKLY SPONSORSHIP: WE ARE NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS FROM CANDIDATES REQUIRING VISA SPONSORSHIP

    POSITION OVERVIEW: To support the Executive Director to achieve Hagar’s Sister’s mission by performing the agency’s accounting, bookkeeping, and gift acknowledgment functions. This part-time, hourly staff position requires 30 hours/weekly.  Medical and 401k currently available for this role.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, perform the agency accounting, banking, grant processing, fundraising campaign reporting and gift acknowledgment functions:

    • A vibrant faith (in the Christian tradition).
    • Enter financial data into the cloud-based donor database and QuickBooks.
    • Perform bi-weekly payroll process with QuickBooks/BofA (integrated) and year-end payroll duties.
    • Accounts Receivable: enter and track donations and multi-year pledges and make deposits.
    • Accounts Payable: process bills, create and track checks, coordinate with and pay vendors, contractors, etc.
    • Prepare financial and giving reports for Fundraising Campaigns.
    • Manage and enter banking and credit card transactions/receipts.
    • Monthly bank transactions and reconciliations.
    • Generate monthly Quickbooks reports as requested.
    • Develop and oversee adherence to fiscal policies, state and federal regulations and other compliance procedures (internal controls).
    • Maintain the donor database giving records (in collaboration with Executive Director).
    • Process gift acknowledgements, tax receipts and pledge invoices in a timely manner.
    • On an annual basis, prepare vendor and company tax forms, set up the annual budget in QB Online, assist with closing of financial books, and prepare financial reports.
    • Prepare for the annual audit and assist in the budgeting and forecast processes.
    • Participate in weekly staff meeting.
    • Implement ticket ordering and cash and online payments for annual in-person and virtual fundraising event.
    • Experience with systems integration/implementation

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelors’ degree preferred.
    • Significant bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks Online.
    • Gift processing and donor database management experience.
    • Preferred: experience with nonprofit accounting.

    SKILLS

    • Clear understanding of accounting principles.
    • Excellent computer skills: Online QuickBooks for NonProfits, Microsoft Teams, and donor management databases.
    • Fluent in the English language, with very strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Detail oriented, self-starter and ability to work independently.
    • Excellent organizational and written communication skills.

The candidate will have strong organizational, and general communications skills and thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and small but dynamic and collaborative workplace. Superb attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, reliability, timeliness and use of judgment are essential. Access to and use of confidential data where discretion/sensitivity is of utmost importance.
