  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    As an HFC Designer on the Telecommunications team you will be responsible for designing and optimizing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) networks to deliver high-speed broadband services.

    This role involves:

    • Creating network architectures, ensuring the efficient integration of fiber and coaxial components to meet performance and reliability standards.
    • Sizing of serving boundaries using GIS address data; analyze, interpret, and organize large datasets
    • Determine feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises by utilizing, parcel, ROW, and easement documentation
    • Determine fiber and coax component allocations
    • Reviewing field staking sheets, as-Builts and field collected data to determine the optimal running line and construction method.
    • Analyze aerial Imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions; and produce and review high quality constructible plan sets using GIS based software.

    The HFC Designer will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and field engineers to support the deployment and enhancement of HFC networks.

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to read, interpret, create maps and plan sets.
    • Ability to edit and create PDF documents (Bluebeam or Adobe skills)
    • Associate’s/bachelor’s degree in engineering/design or equivalent work experience.
    • General knowledge in OSP construction methods and best practices.
    • 3-6 years of Coax/HFC design experience.
    • General knowledge of HFC, DOCSIS, and FTTx networks is required.
    • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Software products is preferred.
