HIV Prevention Specialist
Galveston County Health District is seeking an HIV Prevention Specialist to safeguard the health of residents in Galveston, Brazoria, and Matagorda Counties. This role focuses on HIV/STD prevention, including counseling, testing, condom distribution, and community education. You will also play a key role in managing social media engagement, connecting with at-risk populations, and responding to inquiries.

This is a Grant-Funded, Full-Time, Temporary Position (Ends December 31, 2025)
What You'll Do:
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
1+ years of experience in an HIV/STD-related field OR 3+ years of personal/professional experience within the LGBTQ+ community.
Phlebotomy Certification OR 2+ years of experience performing serum blood draws.
HIV Counseling & Testing Certification (Must be completed within 6 months of hire).
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS & STDs, including prevention methods, transmission, and community resources.
Communication Skills: Ability to interact confidentially and effectively with diverse populations.
Social Media Expertise: Ability to create and manage engaging content across Grindr, Adam4Adam, Scruff, Tinder, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other platforms.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Ability for immediate travel without relying on company vehicles.
Valid Texas Driver's License and dependable transportation required.
Customer Service Oriented with excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Strong Computer Skills (MS Office proficiency).
Evening & weekend availability as needed.
Compliance with GCHD immunization policy & ICS training requirements.
Must pass a criminal background check & drug/alcohol screening.
Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
