This full-time position will provide a mentored training experience in patient-centered outcomes and community-engaged research as part of preparation for an academic faculty position. Training opportunities will be related to the scholar’s work on a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute research contract titled, “Diabetes Medical Nutrition Therapy in Southeastern African-American Women”. The scholar will report to the research study Principal Investigator, Dr. Stephania Miller-Hughes, the study will run for upto a 4 year period.
- Assist with day-to-day oversight of all research study activities
- Collaborate with community/patient-stakeholders throughout all research study phases
- Prepare research study protocols and materials
- Assist with data collection and analysis
- Disseminate research findings to diverse community/patient stakeholders
- Develop scientific manuscripts as lead author or co-author
- Present research findings at conferences
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Ability to operate personal computer, other office equipment, and a variety of audio visual equipment.
- Proficiency using computer applications such as Microsoft Work, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.
- Familiarity with entering and managing research study data via electronic databases, such as REDCap
- Ability to express self clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Required Experience
- Doctorate degree in public health, psychology, behavioral science, or health-related field from an accredited college or university.
- Prior experience conducting human subjects research
- Prior experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
- Prior experience working with a broad range of community stakeholders in research study planning and implemention
